After touring the Western states in late summer, Bob Dylan is building and expanding plans for a fall tour that will keep him on the Southern and Midwestern circuit for most of October. At present, the itinerary is one dozen dates long and predominantly booked into university and college venues.

The legendary musician and His Band open their calendar with an October 6 show at the NSU University Center Arena in Davie, FL, and will stay on the road through an October 22 event at Assembly Hall in Champaign, IL. Other events are set for October 10 at UCF Arena in Orlando, FL; October 13 at BJCC Concert Hall in Birmingham, AL; and October 19 at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, TN.

Four of Dylan’s five Florida concerts already have tickets available to the public, while the Gainesville market will have to wait until September 21 for onsales. The other tour markets have public ticket sales scattered over September 17, 18 and 20, according to Dylan’s official Web site, where some fan club presales start today (September 15).

Event listings on Ticketmaster.com show most ticket prices listed around the $45 mark, though some markets have ducats listed higher ($67.50 in Birmingham) or lower ($35 in Champaign). Many of the university venues also offer special student prices, which are available through the respective institutions.

TFL and ATBS for ticketing professionals

Dylan and His Band visited numerous Western states (and a few Midwestern) during a summer 2010 tour with John Mellencamp. The veteran musician’s itinerary ran from August 4 in Austin, TX, through September 4 in Seattle, WA.

During one stop of the summer jaunt — an August 25 concert in San Francisco — Dylan and his management experimented with a return to old-school ticket sales.

All passes for the Warfield Theater show were sold the day of and payments were accepted in cash only as a way to counterbalance rising service fees and ticket resale issues. Though the line of waiting concert-goers was not enough to fill the venue, the venue’s management declared the experiment a success.
