Ultra Music Festival announced that in celebration of its 15th anniversary, a second weekend has been added to the event. The festival is known to be the main attraction of Miami Music Week that takes place every spring.
The Electronic Dance Music celebration will take place as usual at the Bayfront Park in Miami, Florida. For the 2013 Ultra Music Festival event, it will stretch across two weekends in March. The first weekend will kick off on March 15 and die down on the 17. After a break during the weekdays, the festival will return on March 22 before coming to an end on March 24.
In a news announcement on UltraMusicFestival.com, co-founder, president and CEO of Ultra Music Festival Russell Faibisch said, “After an extremely successful 2012 edition of ULTRA in Miami, and the continuous overwhelming demand by disappointed fans that were unable to attend because of the early sell-out, we’ve decided to do what ULTRA has always consistently done throughout the years — pioneer and push the EDM movement forward.”
This will be the first festival in its musical genre to expand to a second weekend, and anticipation for the show is growing rapidly. The festival built hype for the event by releasing a teaser stating that something huge was coming, but kept the second weekend secret until an official announcement was made on the shows official website last week. Each of the weekends will be unique, with different performers, loads of energy and incredible light shows.
Ultra Music Festival follows in the footsteps of other successful music festivals that have made it big. Earlier this year California’s music fest Coachella expanded to a second weekend, and added a Caribbean cruise. Electric Daisy Carnival, a festival that originated in Los Angeles, has spread to additional weekends in Las Vegas, Puerto Rico, New Jersey, and Florida.
“Being the first ever EDM leaning festival to go two weekends just supports our position as being the preeminent forward thinking brand in electronica. Although we are already known as having the best and most relevant talent at our events,” said Ultra Music Festival’s Executive Producer and Director of Business Affairs, Adam Russakoff. He further explained, “…Two weekends allows us to present even more and create two separate and distinct highly unique experiences for our attendees let alone the impact this will have on the economy in terms of jobs and other ancillary industries like hotels and transportation.”
The 2012 festival hosted some of the biggest names in electronic dance music and drew an attendance of over 165,000 fans. Popular performers included David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, and Kaskade. Fans were also shocked by a huge surprise when Madonna made a guest appearance with Avicii. The line-up for this year’s festival has not yet been released, but a huge showing is expected for the 15th anniversary fest. With double the time, an incredible amount of artists are expected to team up for a show that exceeds expectations and is out of control.
Early-bird passes for the festival went on sale today, Wednesday October 17. Last year early-bird tickets sold out in a matter of ten minutes, and the remaining tickets did not last long either. Early reports from MiamiNewsTimes.com state early-bird passes for the 2013 engagement have already sold out.
