Modern blues-rock singer/songwriter Gary Clark Jr. has announced 2019 tour dates in support of his forthcoming LP.

The tour is set to kick-off March 9 in Miami, Florida, followed by shows in cities like Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Boston, and Washington, D.C. He will perform for three nights at New York City’s Beacon Theatre as well as Nashville, Tennessee’s Ryan Auditorium, closing out the run on April 3.

Clark’s upcoming album – due early next year – isn’t named yet, but he’s hinted that the album will dig deeper into some darker topics – even politics.

“I don’t know if I will be addressing Trump directly, but that’s something that’s happening in life and it’s hard not to see it happen,” he said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “The things I’m writing and thinking about aren’t necessarily meadows and orchards, you know what I mean?”

In a trailer video released last year, Clark describes his influences, from reggae to punk.

“When I started off on the record, it was really about the drums,” he said in the trailer. “If the drums aren’t poppin’, you’re wasting your time. I got all the colors, I’ma paint
with all of them.”
