The K-pop stars of Monsta X are crossing North America this summer to support their first English language album.
The 17-date tour kicks-off in early June at The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota. From there, they’ll visit Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, San Jose, and Toronto, making stops along the way at Boston’s Agganis Arena, the Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City, Dickies Arena in Ft. Worth, and Phoenix’s Comerica Theatre before wrapping-up at The Forum in Los Angeles on July 11.
All Abut Luv, the group’s first album in English, is due aptly on Valentine’s Day. The record will follow their Korean-based albums Take. 1 Are You There? from 2018 and 2019’s Take. 2 We Are Here, which garnered attention on Korean, Japanese, and U.S. charts. The group also released Piece and Phenomenon over the past two years in Japanese. All Abut Luv, however, is the first to be released through the U.S. label Epic, owned by Sony Music Entertainment. Over the past year, they dropped tracks “Play It Cool” with Steve Aoki, “Who Do U Love” with French Montana, and “Love U.”
While the group is embarking on the tour soon, one of their members will not be able to attend the trek. Jooheon, also known as Joohoney, announced this week that he would take a break from his career temporarily to focus on his mental health. A statement issued by Monsta X’s label Starship Entertainment in Korea noted that Joohoney needs sufficient rest and stability to make a full recovery from anxiety symptoms. He is set to return to the group “based on his recovery status and professional opinions.”
Monsta X is the latest group to gain momentum in the U.S. K-pop scene, following BTS, BLACKPINK, and NCT 127. The genre has become more and more popular after BTS became the first K-pop group to play a stadium show in the country, followed by BLACKPINK, who became the first girl group to perform at Coachella.
