Hair at the Hirschfeld showed the largest increase in ticket sales this past week, increasing by $292,384 over the previous week’s box office take. In contrast, A Little Night Music at the Kerr hit the lowest note, dropping $397,238 in ticket sales compared to the previous week.

Three productions closed their doors on April 4. In its last week, “The Miracle Worker” saw the largest bump in attendance of any production, a 31 percent increase over the previous week. Two others closing their doors were “All About Me” and “A View From the Bridge.”

In other news, Green Day and MTV will honor the musical American Idiot in previews at the St. James with a month-long celebration including a half-hour program called “Green Day Rocks Broadway” on MTV and its website along with many other daily events. “American Idiot” opens April 20.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Love Never Dies,” scheduled to make its Broadway debut this November, has been postponed. It will open in spring of 2011 at the Neil Simon Theatre instead, allowing Webber more time to recover from prostate cancer.

A different kind of production was seen below Broadway on 52nd St. on Tuesday, April 6th as smoke billowed into the street. The cause is believed to be an electrical fire and prompted the cancellation of Tuesday’s performance of “Jersey Boys.”
