This past week saw box office ticket sales drop slightly to $20,739,845 from $20,836,876 the previous reporting period. That puts the gross ticket sales ahead by 0.9 percent this year from the same time in the previous season, $842,058,049 to $834,490,954. Five productions came into the million-dollar category led by Wicked at the Gershwin, The Lion King at the Minskoff, The Addams Family at the Lunt-Fontanne, Billy Elliot at the Imperial and Jersey Boys at the August Wilson, all musicals.

Of the ten plays, A View from the Bridge at the Cort once again held the lead in ticket sales at $909,167. The lone special, All About Me at the Henry Miller’s, is falling well below expectations with ticket sales hitting $216,425, only 23.3 percent of its Gross Gross Potential of $939,831. Also seeing marked drops in box office returns were Memphis at the Shubert, 13.5 percent, and God of Carnage at the Jacobs, 11.5 percent.

Looking at the dollars, Hair at the Hirschfeld felt the biggest pinch, reporting a drop of $118,420 from the previous reporting period. But Sondheim on Sondheim almost doubled, jumping to $316,002 from $169,004 from the previous week.

The Top Ticket continues at $350 for A Little Night Music at the Walter Kerr and “Jersey Boys” at the August Wilson. The Best Buy ticket as suggested by the Average Paid Admission was $43.51 for a seat at Looped, playing at the Lyceum.
