The Psychedelic Furs will hit the road across the United States and Canada later this year for a five-week run with fellow UK-based band Happy Mondays. The outing launches September 8 at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL, and wraps October 15 at Olympia de Montreal in Montreal, QC.

The 28-date trek will complete a coast-to-coast circuit this fall, including stops on September 11 at Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO; September 18 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA; September 24 at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheatre in Austin, TX; October 2 at The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA; and October 9 at Roseland Ballroom in New York, NY.

In addition to the tour’s closing date, only one other concert has been announced for Canada. That show falls on October 14 at Kool Haus in Toronto, ON.

TFL and ATBS for ticketing professionals

Select dates of the tour are already on sale with additional presales and general onsales coming up over the next week. The band’s main Web site is under construction, but specific ticketing details for each show are available on Ticketmaster, which has listing for about 20 of the confirmed dates so far.

The Psychedelic Furs released their self-titled debut in 1980 and quickly became a staple of the New Wave scene with singles like “Pretty in Pink,” which inspired the iconic Brat Pack film of the same name. The group has not released an album of original material since 1991’s “World Outside,” though recent published reports have speculated about the possibility of a new album sometime within the next year.

Happy Mondays formed around the same time and grew out of the “Madchester” music scene of late ’80s and early ’90s Manchester, England. The group recently released “Uncle Dysfunktional” in July 2007, its first studio album since 1992’s “Yes Please!”
