The Target Center, a $104 million indoor arena, is located in downtown Minneapolis, MN, and is named after the Target Corp., mass retail chain that is headquarted in the city.

The facility is home to the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team and the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx women’s basketball team.

Opened in 1990, the facility was originally owned by the Timberwolves, but was bought by the City of Minneapolis in 1995. In addition to the two basketball teams, the facility also houses WWE wrestling matches, and was the former home of an Arena Football League team in the mid-1990s.

The facility has been managed by various companies over the years, and received a renovation in 2004, but in 2007 the city signed a deal with AEG Facilities to manage the day-to-day operations.
