The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team from Nashville, TN. They were previously known as the Houston Oilers back in 1960 when they were based from Houston, Texas. The team relocated from Texas to Tennessee in 1997, starting out in Memphis for a season before relocating to Nashville. The team was then known as the Tennessee Oilders before changing it to the Titans in 1999. They are members of the South Division of the American Football Conference in the NFL.
This year the NFL and Hall of Fame committee announced that the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills would kick-off the 2009 NFL preseason in the Hall of Fame Game, played on August 9, 2009 and was nationally televised on NBC. The Titans defeated the Bills by a score of 21-18.
