Broadway Ticket Sales Report

Wicked continues its lead with the highest grosses on Broadway: $1,408,037 at 100% capacity, a modest increase over last week. Jersey Boys follows with $1,197,901 at just over 100% capacity. Mary Poppins saw a drop in attendance to 92% with $1,104,243 and The Lion King dropped to 90% capacity with $1,032,612.

The Coast of Utopia, at close to 97% capacity, grossed $287,282, a modest increase of $8,134 over last week. Trailing closely with very good houses but a small drop in grosses were: Spamalot, at almost 98% capacity, $934, 297 and Avenue Q, at close to 97% capacity, $422,352.

Other productions ahead of the game with increases over last week’s grosses are Grey Gardens $467,346 at 81% capacity; The Color Purple $724,294 at 75%; Translations $180,854 at almost 86% capacity in its second week; The Vertical Hour $436,383 at about 73%; The Apple Tree $372,352 at close to 86%; The Little Dog Laughed $215,238 and just over 50%, Butley $330,287 at almost 77%; The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee $255,862 at over 75%; and Hairspray $569,651 at just over 74% capacity.

As the temperatures drop, so have the remainder of theater grosses with the biggest changes from last week seen by The Lion King at $1,032,612, a loss of $190,216; The Phantom of the Opera at $672,470, a loss of $167,379; Beauty and the Beast at $590,259, a loss of $150,816; Les Miserables at $666,391, a loss of $115,465; and Chicago at $500,399, a loss of $110,377. All other productions trailed with less dramatic changes over last week.

Total grosses for the week were $17,341,690.
