First premiering on UPN on August 26, 1999, SmackDown consistently ranked among the channel’s highest performing shows. Originally airing on Thursdays, the show made the jump to Friday nights on September 9, 2005 as “Friday Night SmackDown.” After UPN and WB merged to create The CW, SmackDown premiered on the new channel on September 22, 2006, and has continued its ratings dominance there. Friday Night SmackDown is the number one rated program on Friday nights among males age 18-34 nationwide.
