INDIANAPOLIS – Thousands of fans are waiting to get Colts season tickets and if you are counting on current season ticket holders giving up their seats, don’t hold your breath.

The vice president of ticket sales says the team has seen a 98 percent retention rate for season ticket renewals since the Super Bowl. Because of that the organization has a waiting list for fans requesting nearly 16,000 seats.

The 2007 season is sold out, but with the switch to Lucas Oil Stadium in 2008 up to 9,000 additional seats will be available. Current season ticket holders will have the option of requesting more seats.

“Certainly with the new stadium nobody wants to lose the opportunity to buy seats in the new stadium so the renewals were about as high as they’ve ever been since I’ve been here,” said Greg Hylton, Vice President of Colts Ticket Sales.

A Colts spokesman says the day after the Super Bowl they had requests for 350 season tickets.

In order to get on the waiting list you have to put down a $100 deposit per seat request, but only one time. In some cities, you have to pay every year.
