Celtics and Timberwolves to Bring NBA Cheer to London Fans

Viagogo.com, the U.K.-based secondary ticketer, has been tapped by the National Basketball Association as the authorized reseller of tickets to an exhibition game between the Boston Celtics and the Minnesota Timberwolves in October in London.

The move marks the second time in a month that the company has teamed up with a U.S. professional sports interest, following its secondary ticketing deal with the Cleveland Browns. Viagogo is aggressively trying to grow its profile in the North American secondary market as it tries to expand the reach of its brand. Founder and CEO Eric Baker, founder and former president of StubHub! promises that there will be more deals with North American teams and/or leagues in the future. . .

Scheduled for October 10 at the O2 arena in London, the game will be the first time that superstar Kevin Garnett of the Celtics will square off against his former team the Timberwolves.

The game is part of a four-team, six-city promotion between NBA Europe Live and EA Sports. Joining the Celtics and Timberwolves are the Memphis Grizzlies and the Toronto Raptors for events in Turkey, Italy, Spain and the U.K.
