Art Garfunkel, who has made an indelible mark on the music world both as a solo artist and half of the unrivaled Simon & Garfunkel, will be touring in 2008 beginning Jan. 5. The concerts, which so far are confirmed into April, are a mix of solo headlining shows and performances with local symphonies.

Garfunkel has enjoyed a successful film career, published a book of poetry and released his 12th solo album, “Some Enchanted Evening,” earlier this year.

He was in Washington DC, Nov. 30 for the Kennedy Center Honors, where he introduced honoree Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and presented a film clip that he narrated. Addressing the crowd which included inductees Martin Scorsese, Steve Martin, Diana Ross and Leon Fleisher, Garfunkel described the first time he heard Wilson’s music: “It was this crazy, unique creation: a mix of rock and roll and heartfelt prayer. He is in a world of his own vibrations.” The “Kennedy Center Honors” airs Dec. 26 at 9 PM on CBS-TV.
