Rock/alt-country band Drive-By Truckers have mapped out a 29-city club and theatre tour from Feb. 11-March 29 in support of their eighth album “Brighter Than Creation’s Dark.” Many of the songs on the 19-track album were previewed during the band’s tour last spring. The album ships Jan. 22.

The band also has a four-song “Brighter Than Creation’s Dark” EP that will be available Dec. 18 on iTunes and other digital music services.

Drive-By Truckers features primary songwriters Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley; longtime bassist Shonna Tucker, the band’s new third writer with three of the record’s 19 tracks; founding member John Neff, a frequent guest who is now an official member, on pedal steel and guitar; and drummer Brad Morgan.

Legendary Muscle Shoals keyboardist Spooner Oldham, to whom the album is dedicated, lends his classic soul sound to the record as he did for the band’s last tour. The album also marks the sixth time the band has worked with producer David Barbe, whose Chase Park Transduction studio in Athens, GA was the site of last summer’s recording.
