Jimmy Buffett, The Black Crowes, Cat Power, Levon Helm, Jakob Dylan, and Gillian Welch are among the initial artists confirmed to perform at the 2008 Newport Folk Festival, Aug. 1-3, in Newport, RI.
Festival festivities begin Friday night with a concert at the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino with soon-to-be-named entertainment. The music will continue at Fort Adams State Park for two full days of music on three stages, Aug. 2-3. A partial lineup of artists has been announced with more to follow (see below).
Single day tickets for Saturday and Sunday, and a limited number of special Two-Day Passes go on sale April 23 at the festival’s website.
