Rock and Roll Hall of Famers R.E.M. are back with a new album and a new tour.

Beginning May 23 in Vancouver, BC, R.E.M. will head to 13 amphitheaters, with special guests Modest Mouse and The Nationals, before winding the tour down June 21 in Atlanta.

“Accelerate” (Warner Bros.), their 14th studio album, has already topped four Amazon.com charts (Overall Music, Alternative, Adult Alternative and Rock) while still in pre-order and getting rave reviews. It was recorded in Vancouver, Dublin, and Athens, GA, last spring with Grammy Award winning-producer Jacknife Lee, (U2, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party, and Kasabian).

R.E.M. was formed in 1980 in Athens, GA, by Michael Stipe (lead vocals), Peter Buck (guitar), Mike Mills (bass guitar) and Bill Berry (drums), who quit the group in 1997 for health reasons.
