The second annual Rock Against Diabetes charity benefit will be held Aug. 23 in Las Vegas, as hard rockers band together again in the fight against diabetes, the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. The disease is responsible for 19 percent of all deaths in the U.S. that occur to people aged 25 years and older.

The benefit show will take place at the sound stages of on-line music experience innovator Deep Rock Drive and feature hard rockers Y&T, LA Guns, Faster Pussycat, Cliff Morrison and The Lizard Sun Band, and Bang Tango.

Last year’s inaugural event was held at the Buffalo Club in Vancouver, BC, and included an auction, raffle and music performances by Eric Martin, formerly of Mr. Big, and Dario Lorina of the Jani Lane Band, as well as local Vancouver Talent. This year, event founder Darrin Buchanan, a music writer/charity organizer and newly diagnosed diabetes sufferer/new diabetic amputee, moved the event to reach a larger, more global audience the internet.

“It was decided to partner with Deep Rock Drive this year, to beam this first of its kind musical and charity event to a worldwide audience in HD broadband Internet,” Buchanan said on the event website. Only one day is planned but due to band interest, a second day is being considered.

Online-viewing tickets are available at Deep Rock Drive website, but Deep Rock Drive and Rock Against Diabetes will also have 100 VIP tickets for the live show in Las Vegas. These tickets will be released as exclusive fund-raising ducats, some allotted to the bands, and for the most part through Rock Against Diabetes, by raffle, auction and prizes. Ticket holders will have intimate access to the bands, and receive special prizes and gifts at the venue, as well as the ability to take part in Venue Only auctions and draws.

Rock Against Diabetes will also be holding auctions, one of the main fund-raising initiatives.
