Another top female concert draw has confirmed tour plans. Janet Jackson, who has not toured in seven years, has confirmed tour plans on the heels of similar tour announcements recently made by female touring icons Madonna and Tina Turner.

While there are no tour dates on either Jackson’s or Live Nation’s website, her tour promoter, Jackson confirmed to the Associated Press that her tour will open September 10 in Vancouver, BC and includes dates in New York and Washington, DC. Tickets go on sale June 7.

“I was supposed to go on tour with the last album,” Jackson told AP, referring to the 2006 CD “20 Y.O,” but said her record label wanted her to wait for her latest CD, “Discipline.”

“We were actually in full-blown tour rehearsals at that point … learning numbers, getting everything together, set designs,” she said. “I had to kind of shut everything down and go into the studio.”

Like her previous tours, it will be a big production but with some elements her fans have never seen before, she said.
