Popular ’60’s group Jay and the Americans launched a new tour this month and have scheduled shows through New Year’s Eve. The tour is followed by a week of performances at sea as part of the Concerts At Sea Oldies Cruise through the Caribbean from January 17-24.
The band now includes founding member Sandy Yaguda and original members Howie Kane and Marty Sanders, with Jay Reincke, but Jay Black, the voice of the quartet, is not a member of the current edition. Black had toured separately under the name “Jay Black and the Americans,” but lost a legal battle to use that name.
Jay and the Americans first hit the charts in 1962 with “She Cried” followed by “Only in America,” “Come a Little Bit Closer,” “Cara Mia” and others. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002.
