Ticket sales were strong out of the gate for Madonna’s upcoming Sticky & Sweet Tour, according to officials with the tour. Among weekend sell-outs were stadium shows in Paris, France and London, England along with arena shows in Boston, MA and Chicago, IL. Two performances at Madison Square Garden sold out today, May 19, and Live Nation, the tour promoter, added a third show for October 11, which also sold out.

Tickets also moved swiftly for shows in Amsterdam, Holland; Cardiff, Wales; and Nice, France.

As previously reported, the tour, supporting her 11th and latest album, “Hard Candy,” begins August 23 in Cardiff and will play arenas and stadiums throughout Europe, including a number of cities where Madonna has not performed in the past 15 years.

The album debuted at #1 in an unprecedented 37 countries earlier this month. Her current single, “4 Minutes,” was co-written and co-produced by Madonna, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. Madonna’s previous studio album “Confessions on a Dance Floor” sold more than 8.5 million copies internationally.
