R&B/soul/gospel crooner Al Green hits the road in full stride on June 19 in Toronto, ONT and winds down on September 21 in Valley Center, CA. Green is supporting a new album, “Lay It Down,” featuring singles “Stay with Me (By the Sea)” featuring John Legend and “Take Your Time” featuring Corinne Bailey Rae.

The album is being produced by a younger generation with Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson, drummer for The Roots, as well as keyboardist James Poyser handling much of the duties.

“I’ve never heard anything quite like it, because I’ve never had anybody produce me other than Willie Mitchell,” Green told Billboard.com. “And when you give these young kids a shot at it, it’s interesting to see the art they make. It’s beautiful.”

The hits started coming for Green in 1971 with “Tired of Being Alone” followed by his first #1 song “Let’s Stay Together.” Other smashes included “Look What You Done for Me,” “I’m Still in Love with You” and “You Ought to Be with Me.”
