Multi-talented actress Zooey Deschanel, half of the duo She & Him, is temporarily trading in the silver screen for the live concert stage this summer, as she tours with her music partner Matt Ward, aka M. Ward, the indie singer/songwriter who is the “Him” of the group.

Supporting their debut album, “Volume 1” released in March on Merge Records, She & Him kick off a 14-city tour July 23 in Toronto, ON. The tour includes two major festival dates — the Newport Music Festival on July 23 in Rhode Island and the V Festival on August 10 in Baltimore, MD, on the last date of their tour. The two previously performed at this year’s SXSW music festival in Austin, TX.

Deschanel’s vocals were first heard in the 2003 film “Elf” starring Will Ferrell, where she sang, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” When Deschanel starred in 2007’s “Go-Getter,” the film’s director paired her with Ward, who was working on the film’s soundtrack and they performed the Linda and Richard Thompson cover, “When I Get to the Border.” Shortly there after, She & Him was born.

Deschanel can currently be seen in the film “The Happening.”
