Smashing Pumpkins, the hugely popular alternative rock band from Chicago, are planning a few intimate concerts in August and more shows in November to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
“The August tour is going to be a blast. Expect a very loud and raucous show from us, and we are very, very happy to know we will finally be playing our own shows come November in New York, L.A. and Chicago. The 20th Anniversary shows will be magical. We are already working on lots of surprises,” frontman Bill Corgan said in a statement. The November concerts will be in bigger venues.
So far, the only confirmed show is August 9 at the new theater at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN, The Venue.
The Pumpkins last toured in 2007 after a six year hiatus. They plan to tour again in 2009 under the title Gish, which was the title of their debut album back in 1991.
