Hot off an arena tour, Alicia Keys has lined up more concerts in September but in more intimate settings. Keys has 10 theater shows booked so far, starting on September 12 in Mashantucket, CT with shows through September 27 in Phoenix, AZ.
Keys is still promoting her third album, “As I Am,” which was released last November selling 742,000 copies in its debut week. It has since sold over 3 million copies and spawned three hit singles: “Like You’ll Never See Me Again,” “Teenage Love Affair” and “No One,” the latter of which won two Grammy Awards.
Her recent tour doubled as a text-message donation campaign that helped raise more than $40,000 for the Keep A Child Alive organization, which provides anti-viral drugs to millions suffering from AIDS in Africa. Keys took a few moments out of each concert to show a clip from her film “Alicia in Africa: Journey to the Motherland” and encouraged fans to make a donation.
In other news, Keys and Jack White of White Stripes fame are recording the theme song for the next James Bond film, “Quantum of Silence,” due out in November. The song “Another Way to Die” will be released on October 28 and is the first duet theme song in the Bond franchise.
