Dickey Betts has postponed his performance on August 19 at the Capital One Bank Theatre in Westbury, NY. The show has been rescheduled for October 8. Tickets for the original date will be valid for the new date or can be refunded at the point of purchase. The Marshall Tucker Band were also on the bill.
Betts was a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, and wrote several songs for the band, including the hit “Ramblin’ Man.” Over the years, released numerous solo albums, some with his group Great Southern. Betts’ son Duane has recently joined Great Southern as lead guitarist.
At times in 1990s, Betts was replaced in the Allman Brothers Band for what was referred to as “personal reasons.” In 2000, he was suspended before the band launched the Summer Campaign Tour, and he filed a lawsuit against the three other original members in the group. He was permanently phased out of the band in 2001.
