The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa is becoming one of the hip places in Atlantic City, NJ, to see contemporary music and comedy. A joint venture between Boyd Gaming and MGM Mirage, the venue opened in 2003.
In addition to housing 2000 guest rooms and suites, and offering various gaming, retail and dining options, the Borgata complex is home to two separate stages: the Event Center and the more intimate Music Box. Borgata has a diverse line-up for its stages over the fall months, with acts ranging from classical music to classic rock.
The venue recently expanded its 2008 schedule, adding shows by Weezer, Carly Simon, k.d. Lang, Luis Miguel, David Byrne, Brian Regan and Steely Dan to its entertainment lineup.
While most acts on the bill for the remainder of 2008 are only appearing for single night engagements, several musical and comedy acts are performing multiple shows at the establishment. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons are performing for three nights in the intimate Music Box, which has a capacity of 922. Reunited comedy duo Cheech & Chong are also performing two shows in the club.
Additionally, Robin Williams and New Kids on the Block are each scheduled for two shows in the larger Event Center. With a capacity of 3500, the center is a less intimate setting for performances, but provides an arena feel for the audience.
