TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, September 7, and in a surprising leap, Texas Stadium lands at the number one position for this week. Sales of Dallas Cowboys tickets, dominating TicketNews’ Top Sports Events rankings, have catapulted the stadium to the top of this week’s list with a power score of 3.48. Madison Square Garden (MSG) comes in at number two this week, with a power score of 2.92. MSG is enjoying robust sales for a number of performers this fall season, including Madonna, Celine Dion, Tina Turner, Michael Buble and Luis Miguel. As fans of the U.S. Open Tennis Championship anticipated an historic final between Roger Federer and Andy Murray, which Federer won, late sales for the U.S. Open placed the Arthur Ashe Stadium at number three in our rankings, with a power score of 2.39. In addition to the finals drama, last week both TicketsNow.com and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) were embroiled in a fiasco, as some tennis fans arriving at the venue to pick up their tickets came up empty-handed.

Moving up two spots this week to number four, with a power score of 2.28, is Caesar’s Palace Colosseum, which is riding continued strong ticket sales for top acts like Cher, Bette Midler, Elton John and Luis Miguel. Football venues make a second appearance in the top five this week, as Giants Stadium moves up two to the number five slot. The home of the New York Giants and New York Jets comes in with a power score of 2.09.

Once again the top Broadway venue in our rankings, the Gershwin Theatre, drops one to number six with a power score of 1.86. With sales of “Wicked” tickets topping TicketNews’ Top Broadway Events, Top Theater Events and Top Combined Events rankings for the past six weeks, the theater can count on this show’s popularity to keep it in the top ten for some time. Arriving close behind the Gershwin with a power score of 1.76, the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center moves up from ninth to seventh place this week. The home to “South Pacific” continues to benefit from strong ticket sales for this very popular musical.

As baseball approaches its postseason, the final weeks of New York Yankees ticket sales leave Yankee Stadium plummeting to eighth place this week. Down five slots from the number three position last week, the stadium comes in with a power score of 1.40.

This week, “Jersey Boys” ticket sales lead to a comeback in the rankings for the Virginia/August Wilson Theatre. After four weeks out of the top ten, the venue arrives at number nine this week with a power score of 1.35. It’s clear that football season has arrived as a third football venue, Heinz Field, rounds out this week’s top ten. Pittsburgh Steelers fans boosted this venue to the number ten slot this week, with a power score of 1.25.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
