TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, August 31, and for the first time in ten weeks, Yankee Stadium does not hold the number one slot. Last minute ticket sales for the U.S. Open Tennis Championship have shot the Arthur Ashe Stadium into the top position, with a dominating power score of 4.59. Madison Square Garden (MSG) moves up one slot again this week to finish at number two, with a power score of 2.71. MSG can thank its steady rise in the rankings to continued strong sales for acts like Madonna, Celine Dion and Neil Young, who will play the final date of his eight-week North American tour there on December 15.

Coming in at number three is the recently dethroned Yankee Stadium with a power score of 2.63. Ranked in the top three TicketNews Top Sports Events for four weeks running, sales of Dallas Cowboys tickets again boost Texas Stadium into the top five venues. This week the Stadium finishes at number four, with a power score of 2.54.

Rounding out the top five, the Gershwin Theatre retains the title of top Broadway venue in our rankings. Coming in at number five with a power score of 1.93, the Broadway home to “Wicked” continues to benefit from robust ticket sales for this wildly popular musical.

In at number six this week with a power score of 1.89, the Caesar’s Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas moves up one slot this week on sales for big-name acts like Cher, Elton John and Better Midler. Just edged out of sixth place with a power score of 1.86, Giants Stadium falls three to the number seven slot, this week, though sales of New York Giants tickets remain strong. Wrigley Field continues to hold steady in eighth position this week, its NL Central leading Chicago Cubs keeping fans excited and eager to buy tickets as the season winds down. Wrigley’s power score this week is a 1.58.

The Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center maintains its ninth place ranking again this week, coming in with a power score of 1.43. Continued strong ticket sales for “South Pacific” are keeping this venue a popular one. Finally, repeating its finish in the number ten position is Fenway Park, this week with a power score of 1.42.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
