Iconic singer-songwriter Willie Nelson has extended his time on the road…again. With more than 70 shows already completed this year, the country crooner recently added new dates onto his fall itinerary that will keep him on the U.S. tour circuit through early December.

The trek continues with a pair of October 16-17 shows at Horseshoe Casino Riverdome in Bossier City, LA, and is currently scheduled to wrap on December 7 at The Centre in Evansville, IN. The original end date was set for November 2’s South Padre International Music Festival in South Padre Island, TX, before Nelson added the late November and early December dates to his books.

A number of the shows on this leg of the tour are set for concert markets in Texas, including an October 26 show at The Backyard in Austin, and a two-night-stand at the House of Blues in Houston on October 31 and November 1. Other highlights include a November 23 performance at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, OK, and a December 2 gig at Stephens Auditorium in Ames, IA.

According to Nelson’s official Web site, most public on-sales for the new stops start on October 10 and October 17, with some sale dates yet to come. Different pre-sale dates are also offered for the various venues on the late 2008 leg of the tour.

Nelson began his 2008 touring season in early January to support the album “Moment of Forever,” released on January 29. The album includes a cover of Dave Matthews‘s “Grave Digger” and Bob Dylan‘s “Gotta Serve Somebody,” as well as guest vocals from country star Kenny Chesney on the original track “Worry B Gone.”
