TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, December 14, and for the second week running, Dolphins Stadium takes the top honors. With a power score of 5.39, the stadium benefits from strong sales for the January 8 BCS National Championship Bowl pitting the Oklahoma Sooners against the Florida Gators. The Stadium also hosts the upcoming Orange Bowl, and could also host an NFL divisional playoff game if the Miami Dolphins make the post-season.

TD Banknorth Garden moves up two this week to clinch the number two position, power scoring a 2.48. The Garden is home to the popular Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins. In the coming months, the venue also will host performances by Fleetwood Mac on their Unleashed tour – their first in five years – and Britney Spears on her “Circus” tour.

As the holiday season unfolds, Radio City Music Hall drops to the number three slot in this week’s rankings. Power scoring a 2.39, Radio City is booked until the end of December with several performances per day of its Christmas Spectacular. Madison Square Garden (MSG) moves up one to number four this week, with a power score of 2.39. MSG can thank strong sales for upcoming shows such as Cirque Du Soleil’s “Wintuk” and a scheduled date on Fleetwood Mac’s tour for its continued appearance in our top five.

Dropping two to number five this week is the Gershwin Theatre. Power scoring a 2.38, the Gershwin is Broadway’s home to the smash hit Wicked, which once again tops TicketNews’s Top Broadway Events and Top Theater Events rankings this week. Next, the Toyota Center in Houston, TX makes a big move in the rankings, jumping three slots up to number six this week and power scoring a 1.81. The Center will see a number of top selling artists in the coming weeks, including perennial holiday favorites the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Nickelback in their first tour under their Live Nation agreement, Elton John and Billy Joel and Britney Spears, as well as performances of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular’s touring company in early January 2009.

The host of the 2009 Cotton Bowl, between the Mississippi Rebels and the Texas Tech Red Raiders, power scores a 1.68 this week. The Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA is next in the rankings this week. Dropping one to the number eight position, the Center is home court to the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team and will host two dates of Britney Spears’ “Circus” tour in April 2009. The Center power scores a 1.64 this week.

The Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina arrives on the list at number nine this week with a power score of 1.59. The home field of the Carolina Panthers will host their upcoming NFC playoff game as well as the December 27 Meineke Car Care Bowl between the West Virginia Mountaineers and the North Carolina Tar Heels. Finally, in at number ten this week is the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City, Utah. Power scoring a 1.53, the theater is scheduled to host a traveling company of “Wicked” in April and May of 2009.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
