Mudvayne tour continues playing the ‘Game’ through 2009 

Heavy metal crew Mudvayne has unveiled dates for the second leg of the New Game Tour. The 12-date outing picks up February 3 at McElroy Auditorium in Waterloo, IA, and runs through February 28 at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ.

Most dates of the latest U.S. outing are booked in the Midwest, including a February 9 concert at Riverside Ballroom in Green Bay, WI, a February 13 performance at Sokol Auditorium in Omaha, NE, and a February 17 gig at Convention Center in Springfield, IL. More dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

The rockers are touring behind their November 18 release, “The New Game,” which debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200. Fans who purchased the album or a ticket to the 2008 tour will be eligible to access presale tickets via TheAlbumIsTheTicket.com.

“Traditionally, over the life cycle of an album, a fan purchases a CD, DVD, tickets to a show and a fan club membership, generally spending over $100 for the experience. For the launch of ‘The New Game,’ fans can experience all of these elements for well under $40,” lead vocalist Chad Gray said in a statement about the promotional ticketing program. “We created ‘The Album is the Ticket’ program to give back to you, the fans that have supported us for so many years, and make it and easy to get what you want.”

In addition to receiving fan club membership and early access to tickets, owners of “The New Game” are also able to participate in an interactive game hosted on the official Mudvayne Web site. An activation code in the CD’s packaging allows fans to access clues and submit information in a fictional murder mystery.

The first round of the New Game Tour included 35 dates across the U.S. and kicked off October 28. Mudvayne recently concluded the initial jaunt with a December 20 concert at the House of Blues in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
