Heavy metal band Mudvayne released its debut album “L.D. 50” in 2000 and has had moderate success on the charts in terms of album sales. Three of the band’s records have been RIAA-certified Gold. Mudvayne’s November 2008 release “The New Game” peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 but has not yet reached the Gold status of its predecessors, despite an album release program intended to increase album sales. The Illinois-based group started “The Album is the Ticket” promotion for the album, stipulating that fans who preordered the 2008 release would have an opportunity to purchase tour tickets before public on-sales. Mudvayne’s tours usually book mid-sized clubs and theaters.
