Sara Bareilles tour announces headlining dates for winter 2009

Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles has had a busy year promoting her debut album. She’ll revamp her efforts with a recently announced headlining tour in winter 2009, kicking off February 11 at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA.

More than 10 North American dates are scheduled through a March 11 show at Hotel Café in Hollywood, CA, with additional tour announcements expected in the future. Singer-songwriter Tony Lucca will open for all nights of the winter outing.

Highlights for the run include February 12-13 sets at Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis, MD, and March 5-6 gigs at Café Du Nord in San Francisco, CA. Canadians shows are set for February 26 at Gesu Theatre in Montreal, QC, and February 27 at Church of the Redeemer in Toronto, ON.

Bareilles is supporting her July 2007 debut “Little Voice,” which debuted at No. 45 on the Billboard 200 and later peaked at No. 7. The album features the double Platinum single “Love Song,” which was recently announced as a 2008 Grammy nominee for Song of the Year.

“This record was really about me learning to trust my own instincts, and more importantly, recognize how desperately I needed to learn to listen to myself, however inexperienced and naïve I may be,” Bareilles said of her debut effort on her official Web site. “It sounds cliché, but that little voice is sometimes the only voice that’s speaking the truth.”

Earlier this year, Bareilles headlined her first tour with Rachael Yamagata, Raining Jane and David Ford supporting on select dates. After opening for Maroon 5 and Counting Crows over the summer, the upcoming performer followed with her second headlining tour, which ran from October 9 through November 7 with support from Marc Broussard and Raining Jane.
