Madonna seems to be recession proof. The European extension of her Sticky & Sweet Tour went on sale in a few European markets this past weekend and had some immediate sell-outs.

In the UK, her July 4 show in London and July 7 concert in Manchester each sold out in one minute resulting in extras shows added on July 5 in London and on July 8 in Manchester. The new shows go on sale February 12. Those four shows will be her last UK dates on the Sticky & Sweet Tour.

To date, Madonna’s itinerary lists 18 of the proposed 24 to 25 European concerts for her Sticky & Sweet Tour 2009. There are no North American shows on the horizon.

On February 7, her first-ever concert in Belgium sold out in one day — 70,000 tickets — at the Werchter Festivalpark in Werchter. On February 8, Madonna sold out her July 30 performance at Vellehovin in Oslo, NOR, in 30 minutes. In Helsinki, FIN, her August 6 show at West Harbour sold 76,000 tickets and became the biggest ever by a solo artist in Finland. The August 9 concert at Ullevi in Gothenberg, SWE, sold 55,000 tickets in two hours.

Not all of her European shows have sold out. There are still tickets on sale in Milan, ITA for July 14 and in Copenhagen, DEN, for August 11.

Tickets go on sale for three other shows this coming weekend: her July 28 concert in Hamburg, GER, and the August 18 performance in Munich, GER, go on sale February 13. Tickets go sale for the August 14 Prague, CZE, concert on February 14.
