The 77th annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo set a new attendance record with 1,890,332 million visitors for all activities at Reliant Park in Houston, TX, from March 3-22, despite four days of cold, rainy weather. The previous general attendance record was set in 2004 with 1,890,174 visitors.

The RodeoHouston performance on March 15, celebrating Go Tejano Day and featuring rodeo action and a concert by Ramon Ayala and Alacranes Musical, broke the event’s all-time rodeo attendance record with a paid attendance of 74,147. The previous record of 73,459 was set in 2008 with a performance by Miley Cyrus. The 2009 Go Tejano Day broke the paid attendance record previously set by Go Tejano Day on March 16, 2008.

Other performers on the 2009 schedule included country’s rising star Taylor Swift, who drew 72,658 fans on March 20; sibling pop act Jonas Brothers, with an audience of 72,475 on March 8; and country icons Brooks & Dunn, with 72,412 concert goers on March 21.

The event hosted 1,826 international guests from 94 countries.
