Rookie of the Year tour searches for ‘Love’ on the road

Pop rock trio Rookie of the Year is winding up for the pitch this spring with a new 26-date headlining tour that launched last night (March 30) at Frankie’s in Toledo, OH. The outing picks up again with a March 31 show at Mac’s Bar in Lansing, MI, and continues on through an April 29 gig at Bulldog Café in Louisville, KY.

The What Is Love Tour features opening sets from special guests Jet Lag Gemini, Kiernan McMullan and School Boy Humor. During the four-week run, the bands will stop for shows on April 4 at Reggie’s Rock Club in Chicago, IL; April 14 at The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA; April 21 at The Studio at Webster Hall in New York, NY, and April 28 at Agora Theatre in Cleveland, OH, among other dates.

Rookie of the Year is also scheduled for a post-tour set on May 3 at The Bamboozle Festival at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, NJ. The day’s events will be headlined by recently reunited ska-pop outfit No Doubt, and will also include performances by Taking Back Sunday and Rise Against, among others.

The North Carolina-based rockers are touring behind their third full-length album, “Sweet Attention,” released in August 2008. The album, a follow-up to 2006’s “The Goodnight Moon,” peaked at No. 21 on Billboard‘s Heatseekers chart for up-and-coming acts.
