Mondial Assistance, one of the world’s largest specialty insurance providers, will be one of the participating sponsors at the upcoming Ticket Summit 2010 in New York City. Among Mondial’s various insurance offerings is its “Event Ticket Protector,” aimed at protecting a consumer’s investment in his tickets in the event that he is unable to attend the event due to illness, travel, or other unforeseen circumstances. The policy allows for the return of 100 percent of the ticket price (up to $10,000).
Mondial’s policy and its business continue to grow rapidly according to director of external communications Daniel Durazo, and as of October 31, 2009, the Event Ticket Protector has insured more than 5 million tickets with a value of about $500 million. Durazo attributes the success of the Event Ticket Protector to its unique role within the ticket market.
