After a weekend Grammy win and headline-making performance, famed guitar master Jeff Beck has expanded his tour plans for the nation. The English musician’s scheduled now stands at nearly two dozen dates spread out over the course of spring and summer.
The first leg of Beck’s U.S. tour begins April 16 at Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco, CA, and ends May 1 at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans, LA. Beck’s calendar will then open up for a month, with the second leg picking up on June 3 at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, MA, and wrapping June 23 at the PNC Pavilion in Cincinnati, OH.
Highlights for the U.S. tour include spring concerts on April 17 at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, CA, and April 29 at Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis, MO, as well as summer shows on June 3 at the bank of America Pavilion in Boston, MA, and June 20 at the Fillmore in Detroit, MI.
Tickets are already available for most spring performances, though onsales don’t open until February 5 for his engagement in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, most dates on the guitar slinger’s summer calendar are still awaiting ticketing details, but a February 6 public onsale has been set for his show in Boston.
Beck will be backed on the road by a new band, comprised of drummer Narada Michael Walden, bassist Rhonda Smith and keyboardist Jason Rebello. His touring plans coincide with the April 13 release of his first studio album in seven years, “Emotion & Commotion.”
The acclaimed guitarist won a Grammy on January 31 for another recent work, the November 2008 live album “Performing This Week…Live at Ronnie Scott’s.” His rendition of “A Day in the Life” snagged the Best rock Instrumental Performance title during Sunday’s ceremonies, which also featured a performance of “How High the Moon” by Beck and Irish singer Imelda May in a tribute to the late Les Paul.
Before launching into a world tour with his band, Beck will play a series of six co-headlining concerts with Eric Clapton in the UK, U.S. and Canada. On this side of the pond, the former Yardbirds guitar gods will play February 18-19 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY; February 21 at air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON; and February 22 at Bell Centre in Montreal, QC.
