Indie rock crew Modest Mouse will return to the road this summer for a one-month tour of the United States before heading overseas to fulfill a couple high-profile festival commitments and other scattered concerts.
The leg on this side of the pond launches July 2 at Royal Oak Theater in Royal Oak, MI, and continues through the end of the month and a July 25 concert at the House of Blues in Boston, MA. Highlights on the three-week itinerary include gigs on July 10 at 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, CO; July 17 at Pageant Theatre in St. Louis, MO; and July 23 at Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn, NY.
The mid-summer trek also features stops at a couple major U.S. music festivals. Modest Mouse’s first special commitment comes early in the itinerary — a July 3 set at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI. That date is followed in the middle of the month with a July 16 appearance at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, IL.
The first public ticket sales for the tour begin this Friday, April 16. While exact ticket prices vary from venue to venue, most are set in the $35 range, according to current listings on Ticketmaster.com. Only tickets for the band’s Boston concert are outside that range, set at $37 for general admission standing room and $45 for reserved seating.
Avi Buffalo will serve as the special guest for the first three dates of the tour. After a handful of dates without an opener, Morning Teleportation will pick up supporting duties from July 17 through the end of the tour.
Modest Mouse had a couple very successful tour legs last year as they promoted the release of the EP “No One’s First, and You’re Next.” Both a late winter tour and a subsequent late summer tour featured multiple sold-out dates in medium and large clubs and theaters across the United States and Canada.
After this summer’s U.S. run, Modest Mouse will head over to the UK and Ireland for a handful of shows that starts with back-to-back performances on August 27 and 28 at the renowned Leeds and Reading Festivals.
