Some fans of Ultimate Fighting Championship are upset that the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event scheduled for June 12 at the General Motors Place in Vancouver was essentially sold out before tickets went on sale earlier this week. According to the Vancouver Sun, Ultimate UFC Fight Club members snapped up tickets to the event before they went on sale, and ticket scalpers allegedly grabbed the rest, which led company President Dana White to announce on Twitter that the event had sold out. Ultimate Club members pay $75 annually for first crack at ticket pre-sales. Tickets for the MMA event have been turning up on broker Web sites, the StubHub marketplace and others for hundreds, or thousands, of dollars above face value, which started at $75 a piece.

Story should have been:
Tickets sold out quickly because Dana was greedy and wanted to charge $75.00 for a fan club membership. Not very many tickets were released to the public to begin with. Some will be held back and slowly released on Stubhub, since UFC has a deal with them. But let’s do what works and blame the brokers for the tickets that start off at $75.00 face with $25.00 in Ticketmaster fees.
FYI if by “not very many tickets were released to the public” you mean NO tickets were released to the public then you are correct. Not 1 single ticket went on the public on-sale, how can you blame brokers for that Dana White? What was the point in setting a public on sale date anyway?
