Wicked is back on top of TicketNews’s Top Events rankings for the week ending May 2. With a 5.25 power score, the musical knocks Lady Gaga from the top spot. Gaga’s 2.69 power score beats out Justin Bieber’s 2.57 power score. Two of baseball’s elite make the overall top ten: the New York Yankees are behind Bieber, in number four (2.52), while the Boston Red Sox are number ten (1.46). Concerts dominate the rest of the top rankings, beginning with Rush (five, 2.05), and including The Eagles (six, 1.65), James Taylor & Carole King (seven, 1.59), and Jimmy Buffett (eight, 1.54). Tim McGraw & Lady Antebellum are number nine with a 1.49 power score.

Lady Gaga sits atop the Top Concert Events rankings with a 5.27 power score. Bieber follows in those rankings with a 5.04 power score. Those concerts in the overall top ten make their appearance in the concert rankings, with the inclusion of Carrie Underwood (eight, 2.56), Roger Waters (nine, 2.53), and Taylor Swift (ten, 2.32).

The Yankees (7.49) and the Red Sox (4.54) are numbers one and two in the sports rankings. Mexico’s soccer team rises in the rankings to number three (4.10). Although we’re full into baseball season, the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys (four, 3.08) beat out baseball’s Minnesota Twins (five, 3.04), Chicago Cubs (six, 2.79). NHL and NBA playoffs fill out the rest of the sport’s top ten. The NHL Western Conference Semifinals featuring the Chicago Blackhawks is number seven (2.68), while the NHL Eastern Conference Semifinals with the Montreal Canadiens is number nine (2.36), and Eastern Semifinals with the Boston Bruins is number ten (2.31). Oklahoma City Thunder tickets for the NBA Western Conference Quarterfinals are number eight (2.52).

With a 36.22 power score, “Wicked” dominates the Top Theater Events. Jersey Boys (8.71) and Billy Elliot (6.88) follow. Lion King is number four (5.28) and Fences is number five (5.02). Green Day’s American Idiot makes the top ten at number eight (2.18), beating out both Chicago (nine, 1.74) and Peter Pan (ten, 1.47).

“Wicked” (29.62) and “Jersey Boys” (10.33) also lead the Broadway top ten. The Addams Family is number six (5.39). A Little Night Music is still moving tickets, enough for the number eight spot (2.99). Closing out the Broadway top ten are Phantom of the Opera (nine, 2.43) and Mamma Mia! (ten, 2.40).

Cher has a huge lead over other shows in Vegas with her 68.99 power score; number two’s Cirque du Soleil – KÀ has a 7.66 power score. Cirque du Soleil – The Beatles: Love is number four (5.19) and Le Rêve is number five (4.64). Marriage Can Be Murder makes the cut at number six (3.47), followed by the still popular Blue Man Group (2.29). In numbers eight, nine, and ten: Jubilee! (0.64), Amazing Johnathan (0.58), and Bite (0.46).

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales from the TicketNetwork ExchangeTM, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales from the given event and total ticket sales within the category. Since the sum of all events’ power scores equals 100 in any given category, an individual event’s Power Score represents its category-specific significance. Top Seller Power Scores should only be used to compare sellers within a particular category, and not across categories.
