Tickets for an upcoming concert appearance by Drake, as well as tickets to catch Tyler Perry’s latest “Madea” tour, are on sale throughout the weekend ending July 5 as compiled by TicketNews.
In light of the upcoming July 4th holiday, this week’s list of onsales is fairly light. However, there are still several big ticket items of note. First up, Drake, one of today’s hottest Hip Hop stars, has a concert in Toronto among the Saturday onsales. After several years on the hit Canadian television show “Degrassi,” Drake produced and sold his own debut album which quickly shot up the music charts. Now signed to a record label, Drake is enjoying a meteoric rise within the music business. That the concert is being held in his home town of Toronto should help ticket sales.
Also among the weekend’s onsales are additional dates for Tyler Perry’s upcoming “Madea’s Big Happy Family” stage show. Already a popular film series, the Madea stage show looks to capture the success of the big screen on stage, which Perry appearing as the lead character of “Madea” as he has in the various films. Shows on sale throughout the weekend include stops in New Orleans and Miami. Also on sale this weekend in the realm of comedy are tickets to catch former “Full House” star Bob Saget doing stand-up in Boston. Known for his brash and bawdy comedy, Saget is particularly popular with the young adult crowd.
Continuing the comedy onsales are tickets to catch Jim Gaffigan live in Las Vegas. Known for his deadpan style and his ensemble roll on the TBS comedy “My Boys,” Gaffigan has been a successful comic for many years. Finally this weekend, a new block of tickets to Disney’s production of The Lion King in Las Vegas go on sale this morning. Disney’s most successful theatre outing, “The Lion King” recreates the magic of the Disney film live on stage with new songs written by Elton John.
“Onsales” is a ticketing industry term describing when tickets initially go on sale to the general public. Each week, tickets are released by promoters, venues and others to dozens of events, but the number of tickets available can vary significantly between locations.
