Box office returns fell more than $800,000 this past week with ticket sales reporting $15,042,066. Ticket sales of the previous reporting period ending February 26 were $17,734,574. The same week last season reported $15,227,613. Comparing numbers for this season to the last, ticket sales are 2.6 percent ahead.

Three of the 26 current productions reported box office receipts in excess of $1 million including “Wicked” at the Gershwin, $1,388,574, “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” at the Foxwoods, $1,281,776, and “The Lion King” at the Minskoff, $1,212,418.

Attendance reported for the week overall was 74.6 percent, with “Wicked” reporting 98.1 percent followed by the new production of “The Book of Mormon” at 95.05 percent and the play “Good People” at the Friedman at 95 percent. “La Cage aux Folles” reported the lowest percentage of capacity at 45.07 percent.

“Wicked” ranked highest in achieving its Gross Gross Potential at 88.64 percent. Reporting the lowest figure was “American Idiot” at the Nederlander, 26.48 percent.

Insomniac browser for ticketing professionals

Five shows this week posted tickets with face values at or exceeding $300, including “Jersey Boys” at $350. The best bargain-priced average ticket was $57.34 for “Good People” at the Friedman.

Producers of the $65 million dollar production of “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” are planning for the show to be overhauled and closed for two to three weeks, according to the New York Times. This is the third postponement for the show, which was supposed to open March 15. A new opening night has not been set, but will likely be sometime in June. The plans for the show, including the shutdown dates, are expected to be announced sometime this week.

  • “Colin Quinn: Long Story Short” shuttered its doors March 5.
  • Arcadia” is in previews at the Barrymore and opens March 17.
  • Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert” is in previews at the Palace and opens March 20.
  • Ghetto Klown” is in previews at the Lyceum and opens March 22.
  • “The Book Of Mormon” is in previews at the Eugene O’Neill and opens March 24.
  • How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” is in previews at the Hirschfeld and opens March 27.
  • Rock of Ages” remains on hiatus and will reopen March 24 at the Helen Hayes.
