Written by Nora and Delia Ephron, “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” is the toast of Off-Broadway, featuring a rotating cast of female stars on the Westside Theatre stage.

“Love, Loss, and What I Wore” tells the stories of women of all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds through the lens of fashion. The show is performed in a style similar to “The Vagina Monologues,” in which several cast members perch on stools on stage as they perform various readings as different characters.

The star-studded cast changes roughly every month, which allows for a different show every time. The cast for the reviewed performance included Alexis Bledel, Nikki Blonsky, Judy Gold, Anita Gillette and Pauletta Washington.

The play is hilarious from start to finish, with serious and touching moments interspersed throughout. Each member of the cast is allowed to shine, as they perform solo monologues, join together for a dialogue, or just shout out various maternal phrases on “What My Mother Said.”

“Love, Loss, and What I Wore” is perfect for a girls’ night out or mother-daughter date night. The audience, mostly comprised of women, laughed along with the cast as they identified with the stories, which ranged from stories of first outfits to first loves to the mother-daughter relationship and more.

The show invites audiences to join the action by drawing pictures of themselves in their favorite outfits or donating gently used purses to Dress for Success, a charity that provides business suits and other employment services to low-income women.
