Box office returns edged up again this past week with ticket sales reporting $22,130,171. Ticket sales of the previous reporting period ending March 27 were $22,037,015, a difference of $93,156. The same week last season reported $24,454,021. Comparing numbers for this season to the last, ticket sales are 2.4 percent ahead.

Three of the 38 current productions reported box office receipts in excess of $1 million including “Wicked” at the Gershwin, leading again at $1,623,653, followed by “The Lion King” at the Minskoff, $1,580,848 and “Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark” at the Foxwoods, at $1,387,356.

Attendance reported for the week overall was 79.61 percent, with nine shows reporting 95 percent or better. The leading three were the musical “The Book of Mormon” at 102.44 percent, with “Wicked” and “War Horse” tied at 100 percent for the second week in a row. “Million Dollar Quartet” at the Nederlander reported the lowest percentage of capacity at 47.2 percent.

“Wicked” again ranked highest in achieving its Gross Gross Potential at 103.65 percent this week. Reporting the lowest figure was “High” at the Booth, 17.67 percent.

TFL and ATBS for ticketing professionals

Six shows posted tickets with face values at or exceeding $300, including “Jersey Boys” at $350. The best bargain-priced average ticket was $25.44 for the play “High.”
