Soundgarden is fully regrouped and, to prove the point, has unveiled its first four tour dates for the summer, with more promised to come in the near future.

At the moment, the four-city romp covers a single month, with opening night set for July 2 at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto, ON. Mid-month perfs are lined up for July 13 at Festival Pier in Philadelphia, PA, and July 18 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO.

The present itinerary wraps with a July 22 concert at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. But Soundgarden’s official Web site states that concerts will eventually be confirmed through July 30, with updates appearing on that site.

Public onsales for all four concerts open April 22-23 at 10 a.m. local time. Based on Ticketmaster.com listings, ticket prices are set between $39.50 and $69.50 (before applicable fees). However, Philly’s listing offers a single price-point ($62.50), while tickets to the Red Rocks gig are set a little higher ($59.50 to $65).

Since the band dissolved in 1997, frontman Chris Cornell pursued a solo career, touring increasingly in recent years, including his current spring Songbook Tour.

But since it was announced on January 1, 2010, the musician’s reunion with Soundgarden bandmates Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd has received the most media attention and whipped fans into a ticket-buying frenzy for the group’s scattered reunion shows.

The reunion gained momentum in spring 2010 when Soundgarden performed a virally marketed one-off under the name “Nudedragons,” which sold out within minutes. Soundgarden also played to the masses as a headliner at Lollapalooza 2010.

Now, with this new tour on the way, the band is also reportedly working on a new album that may see light sometime in 2011. Earlier this year, the band wrote on their Web site, “We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon.”

An album title and release date have not yet been announced.
