Heading for the summer doldrums, there were only 25 productions on the Great White Way last week, four of which are plays. Despite the decreasing amount of shows, one less than previous week, gross ticket sales achieved $21,337,516, neck-and-neck with the previous week’s sales of $21,340,106.

Most productions hovered around the same dollar amount of ticket sales with the exception of “Rock of Ages” at the Hayes with a 9.7 percent increase. “Rain: A Tribute to The Beatles” at the Atkinson reported the only real drop in sales, down 3.5 percent. Total revenue for this season so far is $153,103,504, up 3.7 percent over the same point last year of $147,620,216.

Once again, six productions reported box office receipts in excess of $1 million this past week. Those shows were “Wicked” at the Gershwin at $1,863,700, “The Lion King” at the Minskoff, $1,841,720, “Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark” at the Foxwoods, $1,698,775, “The Book of Mormon” at the Eugene O’Neill, $1,242,408, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” at the Al Hirschfeld, $1,177,086 and lastly “Mary Poppins” at the New Amsterdam, $1,056,035. The play “Master Class” at the Friedman Theatre once again reported the lowest return at the box office, $304,557.

With the closing of “The Motherf***** With The Hat” at the Broadway on July 17, there are now three plays remaining. It saw a boost in ticket sales in its closing week to $870,024, achieving 87.74 percent of its Gross Gross potential. Of the remaining three plays, “War HorseJ” at the Beaumont continues to lead ticket sales at $976,735.

Attendance on Broadway this past week was 85.28 percent with nine shows reporting 95 percent or better capacity. Six shows reported 100 percent capacity or better. The musical “The Book of Mormon” again reported the highest at 102.43 percent, followed by “The Motherf***** With The Hat” at 101.32, “Anything Goes” at the Stephen Sondheim, 100.83 percent, “How to Succeed in Business” at the Hirschfeld at 100.53 percent, “War Horse” at the Beaumont, 100.05 percent and “The Lion King” at 100.02 percent. “Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles” at the Brooks Atkinson once again reported the smallest percentage at 51.72 percent.

Considering Gross Gross Potential, three shows achieved 95 percent or better: “Wicked,” 118.97 percent, “The Lion King,” 108.96 percent and lastly, “The Book of Mormon” at 104.54 percent. Reporting the lowest figure was “Hair” at the St. James, 26.17 percent.

The Top Ticket of $477 continues to be at “The Book of Mormon,” with four other productions posting tickets with face values at or exceeding $300. They were “Jersey Boys” at $350 followed by “How to Succeed in Business” at $302, with the $300 price tag for “The Addams Family” and “Wicked.” “Hair” offered the best bargain-priced average ticket at $40.13.
