As they have done in previous seasons, the Top 10 dancers on the current season of reality competition “So You Think You Can Dance” will step out for a tour of the nation later this year.
The 2011 SYTYCD Tour hits the road September 17 at Amway Center in Orlando, FL, and concludes its 32-city run on November 2 at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, CA.
Stops include September 27 at Agganis Arena in Boston; October 4 at prudential Center in Newark, NJ; October 19 at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, LA; and October 29 at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. A singler performance in Canada is booked on October 9 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON.
Season 8 tour participants are the previously eliminated Clarice Ordaz, Jess Leprotto, Jordan Casanova, and Mitchell Kelly, as well as remaining contestants Tadd Gadduang, Marko Germar, Ricky Jaime, Caitlynn Lawson, Sasha Mallory and Melanie Moore.
Ticket sales for the tour begin today, July 29, in all markets. The majority of these onsales are on Ticketmaster.com, which lists face values between $30 and $60, with a few exceptions. Prices are slightly higher ($47 to $67) in Mashantucket, CT.
“We are thrilled with the season’s spectacular, raw talent we discovered,” stated show creator and judge Nigel Lythgoe. “Watching these dancers each week truly inspires me and it is my distinct pleasure to share them with the nation.”
And share them with the nation Lythgoe has, on a series of annual tours featuring similar scheduled and ticketing structures as this fall’s. Since most previous tours have featured 40 dates (including the most recent ventures in 2009 and 2010), it is possible that additional dates will be added to the SYTYCD 2011 tour, as well.
