After a couple weeks of minor to moderate ticket sale slides, things are starting to look up on Broadway. Ticket sales rose nearly 11 percent ($2.6 million) through the week ending November 13 for a $23.8 million cumulative.

Sales and attendance alike increased for nearly all 32 productions on the boards. Seven shows grossed over $1 million, and the Great White Way’s latest arrivals saw healthy gains, whether still in previews or newly opened.

“Lysistrata Jones” grossed $35,916 for its one-preview week, while the Harry Connick Jr.-starrer “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever” fit in two previews for a $298,553 total. In full preview mode, “Bonnie and Clyde” had the biggest week at $415,841, while ““Private Lives” ($363,805) and “Seminar” ($369,949) came in neck-and-neck.

For a second consecutive week, song-and-dance revue “Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway” exceeded its potential and staked its claim as a runaway hit. The Hollywood star grossed nearly $1.25 million (from a potential $1.23 million) in his praise-filled opening week, with a playhouse brimming over capacity.

“Venus in Furs” also received a post-opening boost, likely thanks to unanimous acclaim for star Nina Arianda. Ticket sales increased 12 percent to $298,759, and attendance hit a 98-percent-capacity high in the week ending November 13.

Longer-running productions also received a much-needed boost through the week. “Mary Poppins” ($794,452) was up nearly 28 percent, while “The Addams Family” ($729,363) rose almost 24 percent, “Chicago” ($550,003) jumped 20 percent, and “How to Succeed in Business…” ($1,002,316) bumped its ticket sales by 14 percent to reach million-dollar territory for the first time in two months.
